If a property's coordinates are on file and a submitted photo includes GPS data, Clean Report measures the distance between the two and displays it on the photo. This is a measured value, not a judgment about whether the cleaning was done properly.
What Is Actually Measured#
Many phone cameras embed GPS coordinates in a photo's metadata (EXIF data) when location services are enabled. When that's available, and a property's own coordinates have been entered in Property Setup & Sharing, Clean Report calculates the straight-line distance between the two and shows it — for example, "40 ft from property" or "2.1 miles from property."
This is measured directly from data in the photo file. It isn't an estimate, and it isn't influenced by the photo's content.
What This Doesn't Tell You#
Distance-from-property is one signal, not a verdict. It doesn't confirm:
- That the photo shows a cleaned area, rather than an uncleaned one.
- That the photo was taken at the time of the current turnover, rather than reused from an earlier one.
- Anything about the quality of the cleaning itself.
Treat it as supporting evidence alongside the checklist and the photo itself, not as a stand-alone verification.
Why a Photo Might Show No Distance#
- The property doesn't have coordinates saved yet.
- Location services were off in the camera app when the photo was taken.
- The photo was transferred from a different device or app that stripped its metadata.
A missing distance doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong — it means that particular signal isn't available for that photo.

Enter the property's coordinates under Property Setup & Sharing. Once saved, distance is calculated automatically for any future photo that includes GPS data — no separate setup is needed per cleaner or per turnover.
Frequently Asked Questions#
Does Clean Report analyze what's in the photo? No. Distance-from-property is the only automated signal calculated from a photo; Clean Report does not currently analyze photo content itself.
Can a cleaner fake their location? Location data comes from the phone's camera at the moment the photo was taken; Clean Report reports what the photo's metadata contains rather than independently verifying the phone's location by other means.
